Here in Yorkshire, the Grand St Leger is the highlight of not only the racing season, but our summer social calendar. The arrival of spring has filled the rails of Robinsons with new season dresses in countless summer shades, not to mention spring/summer’s biggest hit, florals. It’s time to get races ready and with gorgeous dresses from the likes of Versace, Lexington, Michael Kors, ESCADA and Moschino available in store now, the decision just got harder than ever! To help make the choice a little easier, here are our top five tips for ensuring you’re the finest filly in show this summer.

Whilst we are suckers for the classic LBD, race season is the perfect time to cast black to the back of your wardrobe and embrace something a little brighter. Stand out from the crowd, for all the right reasons, in bold flamingo print Versace or daring scarlet Boutique Moschino. Plus, who doesn’t look amazing in a big, bright, fabulous hat?

Pink is the colour of 2016 and two of our favourite takes on the new season shade come courtesy of Versace and ESACADA. Pick out the paler pink in Versace’s colour block style in your hat or fascinator, working the slim fitting with confidence. ESCADA’s sweet scalloped style channels a less sexy, more Sixties vibe that Alexa Chung would rock with aplomb.

Michael Kors brings florals to the fore for SS16, from bold navy blooms to ditsy linen prints. Boutique Moschino’s take on the trend will appeal to the young at heart, with the bow print shift dress standing out as one of our favourites from the new season collection. Slip the red-piped leather jacket over your shoulders to toughen the look.

Even if Boutique Moschino’s rock-chick leather jacket doesn’t hit the spot, a cover up is essential if you’re planning on seeing race day out into the wee hours. Go from track to cocktails in Michael Kors’ white sleeveless waistcoat or opt for a dress with long sleeves; we love ESCADA’s knitted silver dress or Boutique Moschino’s monochrome twin-set for a Parisian edge.
