A great pair of shoes can last you a lifetime if you treat them right but in an age of fast fashion, taking care of our clothes has become something of a forgotten art. Treat your shoes to a little TLC with these easy steps and we promise it’ll be worth it in the long run.
Use a shoe tree
Shoe trees are as old as time but they’re one of the best ways to keep your shoes in shape, literally. Wooden shoe trees will absorb moisture and retain the shape of your shoes, as well as preventing any creasing of the leather.
A good quality wax shoe polish will nourish, moisturise and protect your leather shoes, ensuring that they stay looking great for years. It’s important to wax shoes regularly, including before your wear them for the first time and on a monthly basis after that. The Collonil 1909 Renoir Valet Box contains everything you need to polish properly, including a cleaning brush, natural goat hair fine polishing brush and 1909 Wax Polish, a tin of high gloss shoe paste considered the most luxurious ‘anti-aging’ leather polish going. Once cleaned and polished, don’t forget to buff with the Collonil Polishing Cloth to get your leather gleaming.
Know your wax from your cream
Waxed leather shoes can’t be polished and should be treated with a great quality cream instead. The 1909 Créme de Luxe is an intensive cream enriched with natural waxes and oils and designed specifically to bring a high-gloss to waxed leather and revive their colour.
