A leading fashion boutique proudly presented its latest contribution to charity Yorkshire Cancer Research taking its grand total raised to over £250,000!
Designer Fashion Boutique Robinsons warmly welcomed Charles Rowett Chief Executive of Yorkshire Cancer Research to its Bawtry boutique as they handed over a cheque for £24,500, the proceeds of last year's annual fashion show at China Rose Restaurant in the picturesque market town.
"Last year we celebrated the fashion show's 21st anniversary and were delighted to raise the largest amount ever in its history," said Russell Jones proprietor Robinsons Bawtry. "It was a truly amazing event and we are so grateful to all our guests, customers and supporters who made it so special."
Over the last three years the money that Robinsons has donated to the charity has helped to fund a research programme by PhD student, James Hackland . James has been researching the causes of childhood cancers, how they develop and ways in which treatments can be found and progressed.
"James' work is providing vital research into the genetic characteristics of Rhabdoyosarcoma and we were immensely proud that he was able to present his work so far to the International Stem Cell Community Conference in Boston last year," said Charles "Without the funds that Robinsons and their fantastic customers and supporters raise each year, such vital work could not be undertaken."
During its 21 year history, Robinsons fashion show has always taken place at the fabulous China Rose Cantonese restaurant just doors away from the popular boutique which lends itself perfectly to the catwalk show and the after show party. And, Bawtry based salon owner Nigel Oxby, has leant his support by ensuring the hair and make-up of all the models involved in the show each and every year is styled to perfection.
"I think I speak for everyone who has ever been involved in this annual event, that the work that all the Robinsons team do and the support that the event receives is simply amazing," said Estelle Johnston China Rose, Bawtry. "It is fantastic that Russ, Wendy and James continued the work of Robinsons founder Tony Robinson and that the show continues to go from strength to strength."
The annual fashion show was first staged in 1992 by Tony Robinson to raise funds for Yorkshire Cancer Research after he lost his first wife to cancer.
Plans are already underway for the 2014 show which will take place in early October.
