THE SATURDAY NIGHT PARTY EDIT

Hands up if you have a wardrobe full of clothes but nothing to wear for that big night out next Saturday? Birthday party, ladies’ night, cocktails and dancing til dawn; they’re all occasions that have outfit anxiety written all over them. The formula for a successful Saturday night outfit is easy. We want something that will allow us to shake and shimmy like Beyonce and that will act as a reminder that beneath the school runs and office stresses, there’s still a sultry sass pot hidden underneath.

The beauty of the arrival of the autumn/winter season is rails full of party pieces that work as well for a girls’ night out as they do for the Christmas festivities. From beautifully cut bodycon Versace to Sixties-inspired Escada shifts and golden ribbed sweater dresses by Michael Kors, our Saturday night party edit has something to suit all styles. Which one will you be rocking this time next week?

OUR FIVE STYLE RULES FOR YOUR RACES LOOK

And they’re off! The St Leger is just around the corner and you’re running out of time to find a races outfit that sees you leading out front.

The annual St Leger is one of the most anticipated events on our social calendar and part of its appeal is the opportunity to get suited and booted. If your day-to-day look is more casual, a chance to slide a suit jacket over your shoulder, polish the leather on those dress shoes and adjust the knot on your tie is almost as exciting as watching the horses do their thing on the track.

The stakes are high but there’s still time to avoid a races fashion faux-pas. Here are seven style rules to follow that’ll help you on your way to the finish line.

CUT IS KING

When it comes to suiting, cut really is king. Tailoring is very much alive and kicking, and no other item in your wardrobe is worth getting just right. Speak to our style specialists in store today and find out more about our suit tailoring services.

KNOW WHEN TO MAKE IT MATCH

When it comes to your accessories, there are two rules regarding matching; your shoes and belt should, your tie and pocket square should not. Instead, look for a pocket square in a coordinating colour but not a matching print.

GO HARD ON THE ACCESSORIES

The fastest way to ensure you’re a cut above the rest is to use your accessories to add some personality to your look. Invest in some great quality cufflinks, wear your finest dress watch, add some colour with bright socks and if you’re feeling particularly dapper, accessorise your traditional tweed with a pocket watch. Leave the monocle at home.

FREE THE CUFF

A well-cut suit should show no more than a centimetre of your shirt cuff below. Which is why those cufflinks should be ones that are well worth showing off. We’re big fans of Mulberry’s sleek circular styles.

PULL YOUR SOCKS UP

It’s not just the colour of your socks that matters, it’s their length too. They should be long enough to cover your legs when your trousers rise up as you sit down.

Be a winner in the style stakes this St Leger. Visit Robinsons today to shop your look.

HOW TO LOOK GOOD IN THE OFFICE IN A HEATWAVE

It is the British disposition to complain about the weather and, whilst we never take summer sun for granted, just the thought of working out what to wear when the mercury rises to heat wave proportions is enough to get many of us all hot and bothered. Summer dresses and shorts may keep us cool but they’re far too casual for most offices. Here are four workplace-worthy alternatives for next time the temperatures soar.

THE WHITE SHIRT

In the fashion sense, the white shirt has never been cooler. Various designers have taken the corporate classic white shirt and given it a new season shake up with an off-the-shoulder cut here and a full sleeve there, but the white shirt remains one of the smartest – and airiest – items of clothing in your summer wardrobe. Wear yours with cropped cigarette trousers or chinos and backless mules for a look that could just as easily appear outside the London Fashion Week tent as it could beside the photocopier.

THE LONG LINEN DRESS

Until the day comes when we can get away with wearing a kaftan for the office, the loose linen dress is the next best thing. A structured top half balances out the floaty skirt of this Sarah Pacini style, which along with the soft grey shade keeps it office appropriate. Loose and linen is the key combination when it comes to looking good but keeping cool.

THE MIDI DRESS

Once considered one of the frumpier lengths, the midi has really come into its own in recent years and is now one considered one of the most wearable options in our wardrobes. We love a dress for work in summer and the midi-length is the most on-trend – and most office appropriate – length of the season. The gathered shoulders and deep V neckline on this Max Mara midi dress keep things interesting. Purple will add a much-needed pop of colour to your working week, whilst the black will last you a lifetime.

THE SLEEVELESS SUIT

“A suit? In this weather!” we hear you say, but bear with us because not all suits are created equal. This Armani Collezioni suit combines looser, slightly cropped trousers with a sleeveless jacket, both of which were practically made for braving the office in a heatwave. Add a simple vest in black, white or stripes, plus heels to elongate the legs and counteract that cropped length, and you are good to go.

Corporate, cool and comfortable; who knew the three could work so well together? Visit Robinsons today and ready your wardrobe for summer with new season styles from Sarah Pacini, Armani Collezioni, Max Mara and more.
