It was 1924 when Belstaff founders Eli Belovitch and Harry Grosberg manufactured the world’s first ‘breathable’ yet waterproof fabric. This waxed cotton became the basis of the British heritage brand’s all-weather motorbike jackets, pioneering the trend for garments as technological as they were on trend.

Back then, Steve McQueen was the too-cool-for-school face behind the Belstaff brand, but today it is David Beckham, Ewan McGregor, George Clooney and Brad Pitt who fly the flag for this legendary fashion icon.

We are firm believers in spending a little more on your winter jacket, especially when you opt for a classic style that will see you through countless winters without dating one bit. The Belstaff Trialmaster, Racemaster and Roadmaster waxed jackets are available in store now in a variety of colours; which will you be wearing this winter?

Make like Marlon Brando in ‘The Wild One’ this winter, with the Belstaff Trialmaster Boot.

The biker boot is as relevant now as it was way back when Brando first rolled into Carbonville and, whether your weekends are spent on two wheels or otherwise, this is the one shoe style you need in your winter footwear armoury.

Brando himself may have favoured a rather unconventional canvas cap with his biker boots, but if we were you we’d give it a miss and look towards modern-day menswear icon and long-time Belstaff ambassador, David Beckham, for inspiration. Equally as known for being fashion forward as he is for being fancy-footed, Beckham has made the biker look his own, pairing his buckled biker boots with well-worn jeans, basic marl tees and Belstaff leathers. It can take years to get your biker boots looking like they’ve spent years being worn day-in-day-out, their leather suitably tarnished to avoid that fresh from the box gleam. Give the hard work a miss by opting for the pre-weathered leather of the Belstaff Trialmaster Short Boot in Cognac, brand new in store now at Robinsons of Bawtry.

If you only add one pair to your footwear arsenal for AW16, make it the Belstaff Trailmaster Boot. Visit us in store today to shop more accessories and clothing from the heritage leather brand.

This week, we heard talk turn to Quality Street. They’re replacing the toffee ones apparently, but what really caught our attention wasn’t this controversial change, but rather the realisation that Quality Street equals Christmas. There are now two ways about it; winter is officially here. Even if the last few days of an Indian summer have left us thinking – hoping – that darker nights and cold mornings aren’t on the agenda. The truth is that we’re sort of excited to snuggle in new season knits, layer our A-line denim skirts over thick tights and throw on boxy furs that leave us feeling just a little bit like the jet-setting heir to an oil fortune.

In summer, we’re happy to throw on barely-there dresses and the denim shorts that have lasted us a lifetime. But winter, that calls for a little luxury. Something a little special to make those cold days worthwhile. Your usual knitted jumper just doesn’t cut it anymore. Now, we want silk and cashmere and wool, woven into one to create the most luxurious winter wear we’ve ever slipped over our shoulders. If we can combine ultra-luxe fabrics with statement style, then that is even better.

The Belstaff Karli Crew Neck Sweater is something of a holy grail in jumper terms. Deliciously textured, oh-so-soft, and with the kind of distinctive detail guaranteed to have eagle-eyed fashionistas stopping you in the streets. An ivory knit is a winter must have and this one is top of our AW16 shopping list. You know how we love the contrast of chunky knits and sleek leather, so the Belstaff Karli Crew Neck Sweater with your sleekest leather trousers and chunky black boots. That said, winter denim is always a good idea.

What is it about leather, which makes it all the more appealing when it has been through the wringer? Thrown on without a thought, for years on end even, only to emerge with more character than you ever expected an item of clothing could have. The leather softens with every wear, but wouldn’t it be amazing if you could skip the hard part and go straight to the bit where your biker jacket becomes your faithful favourite?

The Panther is the calf leather counterpart of Belstaff’s original racing jacket, The Trialmaster. Thanks to hand-waxing, this AW16 must have has the worn-in feel we all love from our leathers, whilst the brand’s signature water-repellent treatment sees it get even better with age, a little bit like we men like to think we do.

Emulate the legends of the road with brand new AW16 outwear from Belstaff; the British heritage brand of choice. Visit us in store today to shop the full new season collection.
