As official stockists of specialist denim brands including True Religion and Jacob Cohen, it’s safe to say that we have this thing with denim.

Jeffrey Lubell, CEO of True Religion, once said “True religion meant there’s really only one religion in the world. That’s people, and we all wear jeans”

Jeans are the fashion’s common denominator. We all appreciate a great pair and we all understand how important great quality jeans are to our wardrobes. But do you know how to look after yours? Designer denim comes at a price but follow these simple denim care tips and your new jeans will last you a lifetime.

It’s the age-old denim dilemma; to wash or not to wash? When you have paid good money for the perfect fade, it makes no sense to lose it all in the first few washes and find yourself left with a rather 80’s acid wash. On the other hand, a great pair of jeans will be wasted on you if you smell like you have shunned showers for the last week. Advice is conflicting but according to the denim experts, your jeans should be washer bound after about ten wears. Any less and you risk losing the unique character jeans develop over those all-important first few wears (known as whiskering and honeycombing).

Jeans have been around since the 19th century and we’re confident in saying that the workers wearing them at the peak of the Gold Rush weren’t putting them on a spin cycle every few days. Heavy denim like that used by True Religion and Jacob Cohen is built to last; the delicate part is the wash. Harsh detergents can wash out that indigo tint, so look for one that promises to care for your colours and which will work on a cold-water wash, something else that will keep that colour.

When it comes to drying your denim, the tumble dryer is enemy number one. Even a quick spin in the dryer will drain the colour from your jeans quick enough to see the colour drain from your face when you take them out. It’ll affect their shape too. Hang up your jeans and allow them to air dry to preserve their fit and fade. Take them off the hanger once dry and store folded and out of direct sunlight.

It will come as no surprise to hear that we are really into our denim here at Robinsons. As the region’s leading stockist of Jacob Cohen jeans, we are used to welcoming limited supply and special edition denim to our shelves. Now, we introduce something certain to excite denim connoisseurs; the Limited Edition Spitfire Jeans.

The box proclaims ‘Jeans with history in the making’ but history has already been made and celebrated with every pair. The Spitfire played a pivotal role in World War II and now both it, and our fallen heroes, are celebrated in a garment guaranteed to become as much an heirloom as a fashion statement.

No stone has gone unturned in Mancini’s quest to pay homage to a hero of British history. Genuine metal from the original Spitfire SL633 plane has been incorporated into the waistband label and the waistband plate has been hand-painted by a British artist, carefully replicating the colours and design of the famed SL633 plane. Etched into the leather of each heritage look label is a number – 001 to 200 – an indicator of which pair of just 200 available in the limited collection you are now the owner of. Various washes, metals and dyes have contributed to the hand-crafted piece of history, with every single one of them chosen to reflect the Spitfire image and inspiration behind the denim.

Red stitching is a patriotic salute to fallen heroes and a cotton pocket handkerchief is printed with the camouflage and bespoke roundel design of the Spitfire SL633. Each pair of Limited Edition Spitfire Jeans is supplied with a certificate of authenticity, plane flight history and log.

Style and substance go hand in hand in our latest limited edition denim, a little extra leg room added to an otherwise slim leg for ultimate comfort. The denim itself is the highest quality, its luxury wash created with a combination of soda washing and hand-scraping the denim to create bespoke fading.

The only thing better than Limited Edition Spitfire Jeans is getting the opportunity to wear them with the Jeffery West ‘Spitfire’ Laser Cut Punched Gibson, a stylish and subtle ally with iconic Spitfire detail to the side and a red contrast interior which coordinates perfectly with that pocket stitching on your denim.

There are just 200 pairs of Limited Edition Spitfire Jeans available in the world and a very limited number of those are available now at Robinsons. Visit us today for your opportunity to wear a piece of history.

Jeans were once considered a mere wardrobe staple, dressed down with sweaters and up with statement heels. That is all about to change, because SS17 will see the simple jean take centre stage, with show-stopping statement styles taking over the runways and infiltrating the new season collections.

When new season True Religion arrived at Robinsons, we noticed a theme running through the skinny jeans in the collection: eye-catching embellishment is elevating everyday denim.

These are the three pairs you need in your wardrobe for the season ahead.

The street style stars went crackers for patches in 2016, with the front rows of fashion weeks around the world occupied by patches, appliques and embroidery. Customization has never been cooler and the True Religion Black Halle Super Skinny Patched Jean takes away the DIY embroidering element that none of us have really had time for since we were nine.

With a midrise, super skinny biker fit, cropped ankle and stud detail, the Black Halle Skinny Stud Crop was made for your inner rock chick. Make like Ms Moss and wear yours with a white shirt – unbuttoned as low as you dare – and a pair of sky-high suede stiletto heels or sandals. Alternatively, keep it casual in a crew neck sweater and ankle boots.

Black skinny jeans are the off-duty staple and the addition of silver-toned studs makes this statement pair work with something as simple as your plain white tee. Throw on a black leather biker jacket and heeled ankle boots to finish off the look.
